Warranty Policy

Warranty coverage built around the approved product documents.

This policy explains the general warranty process for ALC-Scientific, OEM, private-label and distributed laboratory equipment. It does not invent a universal duration or remedy.

Effective: 1 July 2026Last updated: 1 July 2026Version: 1.1

Plain-language summary

Warranty coverage, duration, costs and remedies depend on the selected product and accepted commercial documents.

Important: Product-specific commercial terms in an accepted quotation, invoice, warranty certificate, purchase order acceptance or signed agreement take precedence for that transaction. Mandatory rights under applicable law are not excluded.

1Purpose and scope

This Warranty Policy explains the general process used by ALC-Scientific for equipment supplied under an approved quotation or other accepted commercial document. Warranty coverage is not universal across the catalogue and may vary by product family, model, configuration, manufacturer, source, delivery location and agreed service scope.

  • ALC-Scientific-branded, OEM or private-label products may carry product-specific terms.
  • Third-party or distributed products may be covered only by the original manufacturer’s warranty and procedures.
  • Consumables, reagents, accessories and services may have separate or no warranty unless expressly stated.
  • The approved quotation, invoice, warranty certificate, product-specific agreement or manufacturer document controls the applicable scope.

2Warranty period and start date

ALC-Scientific does not publish a single warranty duration for all products. The applicable duration and commencement event will be stated in the approved quotation, invoice, warranty certificate or product-specific agreement.

Depending on the agreed supply, the period may begin from invoice, dispatch, delivery, installation or commissioning. Proof of purchase, serial number and installation or commissioning record may be required. An extended warranty applies only where it has been purchased and documented in writing.

3Covered defects

Where stated in the governing warranty document, coverage may include defects in material, manufacture or workmanship arising during normal use within the approved operating conditions. Coverage does not guarantee results outside the confirmed specification, method, sample compatibility or environmental limits.

Software, firmware, electronic assemblies, mechanical assemblies, sensors and other components are covered only to the extent identified for the selected model.

4Inspection and available remedies

All claims are subject to technical review and, where necessary, inspection. ALC-Scientific or the applicable manufacturer will determine the technically appropriate remedy after considering the defect, product condition, parts availability and governing warranty document.

Possible remedies may include remote correction, repair, component replacement, workshop service, product replacement or another agreed corrective action. Replacement equipment may be new, equivalent or serviceable only where permitted by the governing terms. Nothing in this section limits a remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded.

5Common exclusions and non-covered conditions

A claim may be declined, limited or treated as chargeable where the issue is caused or materially contributed to by a condition outside the agreed warranty. Depending on the product and governing document, this may include:

  • Misuse, accidental damage, improper storage, unauthorized modification or repair.
  • Installation, relocation or commissioning contrary to the approved manual or by an unauthorized person where authorized installation was required.
  • Incorrect voltage, phase, frequency, earthing, unstable power, surge, generator or UPS incompatibility.
  • Water, drain, gas, vacuum, compressed air, ventilation, ambient temperature, humidity, dust or vibration outside the specified limits.
  • Improper cleaning, corrosion, contamination, biological or chemical exposure, blocked filters or failure to perform required maintenance.
  • Normal wear and consumable items such as lamps, filters, seals, gaskets, tubing, batteries, electrodes, probes, rotors, brushes, fuses, glassware or accessories unless expressly covered.
  • Calibration drift or performance change caused by use, ageing, handling, environmental conditions or lack of periodic verification, unless expressly covered.
  • Transport damage occurring after accepted delivery or after customer-arranged movement.
  • Force-majeure events or external causes not attributable to a covered defect.

An exclusion applies only where consistent with the governing commercial documents and applicable law.

6Installation, commissioning and site readiness

Some equipment requires authorized installation, commissioning, calibration, qualification or operator orientation. The quotation or product documentation will state whether these services are included, chargeable, remote or customer-managed.

The customer is responsible for preparing the site, utilities, access, safety controls and permits specified for the selected model. If self-installation is permitted, it must follow the approved instructions. Failure to meet mandatory site or installation requirements may affect coverage only to the extent that it causes or contributes to the claimed issue.

8Freight, workshop and on-site costs

Responsibility for freight, insurance, packing, removal, reinstallation, labour, travel, accommodation and on-site attendance is product- and contract-specific. No universal cost allocation is published.

The applicable scope will be specified in the approved quotation, invoice, warranty certificate or product-specific agreement. Where a claim is found not to be covered, diagnostic, freight, travel, parts or labour charges may apply only after communication and, where appropriate, customer approval.

9Data, samples and decontamination

Before service, the customer should back up instrument data, remove confidential information where practical, remove samples and consumables, and place the equipment in a safe condition. ALC-Scientific is not responsible for samples or unbacked data except where liability cannot legally be excluded.

Equipment exposed to biological, chemical, radioactive, pharmaceutical or other hazardous material must be cleaned and decontaminated. A decontamination declaration may be required before collection, workshop acceptance or on-site work. Unsafe equipment may be refused until risks are controlled.

10Transfer, resale and ownership changes

Whether warranty coverage transfers to a subsequent owner depends on the product-specific warranty document and the ability to verify the product, purchase, service history and installation conditions. No general transferability is promised.

11Limitations and statutory rights

To the extent permitted by law and the governing transaction documents, warranty remedies address the covered product defect and do not automatically include loss of production, loss of samples, loss of data, business interruption, validation cost or indirect loss.

Nothing in this Policy excludes or limits liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, personal injury where exclusion is prohibited, mandatory product liability, applicable consumer rights or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
